Visitors

Welcome!

We would love for you to join us for one of our worship services. We think you'll discover the excitement, joy, and love of God through the people of God and through the music and message.

Let us get to know you.

Visiting During the Pandemic

We have opened our sanctuary for worship, and you are welcome to join us.

  • Masks are manditory. We have some available if you don't have one of your own, or if you forget yours.
  • Our seating has been adjusted to maintain proper social distancing.
  • We have hand sanitizer placed throughout the sanctuary.
  • We are not singing as a congregation in worship, but we do have a special online service at 10:15am in which our worship team leads us in song.

You may also join us on YouTube where our services are broadcast live! Most of our congregation is currently meeting online, and we celebrate the way God binds us together even in the midst of these times.

Meet Goodrich

Every church has its own personality, and you are looking for a church that will make you feel at home.  Here are a few things that give Goodrich its unique personality:

  • We are a multi-generational church. Children, teens, and adults worship and serve together.
  • We are a diverse church. You will find socio-economic, racial, and theological diversity in our community.
  • We are a first name church. Titles are important but everyone is important at Goodrich; nothing is more important than your name.
  • We are a relationship church. We seek to share life together with each other, and we welcome new friends.
  • We think it is important to be God’s presence in our community. Our ministry, outreach, and ministry programs seek to be a witness of God’s love to our neighborhood and our community.

Get directions

From Robinson Street, turn south on Fay Avenue and turn west on Hayes Street.  Click for map.

Where to go when you get here

Parking designated for visitors and people who need handicapped parking is available in front of the church and the main parking lot is across the street.

All entries are on the north side of the church. If you are attending worship or a study group, enter the doors on the east end. If you are attending an activity in the Family Life Center, enter the doors on the west end.

Once you enter

You will be greeted in the lobby. The greeters will help you to sign-in and will check your temperature and give you a mask if you need one. Children's masks are available if you prefer, although not required for children under 10. The greeters will answer your questions, and will happy to assist you in any way.

As you enter one of the services an usher will greet you and will help you to find your seat. Seating is marked by blue tape to help us to maintain the recommended physical distance of 6'. Household groups (people you live with) are seated together. Please let an usher know if you have special seating needs such as a wheelchair or if you need a hearing assistance device. We hope you enjoy our church community and look forward to seeing you soon!

If you have children

We look forward to meeting all of you!  We are not currently offering nursery care or children's church, due to the pandemic restrictions. Our children are part of our worship service, and we delight in them. Giggles, squeals and squeaks are kid's way of making a joyful noise and are never a cause for concern. There are worship bags for children that contain items that will help them to participate in and enjoy worship. You are encouraged to take these home as our gift! During the service, although they will remain seated with their families, children have a special time geared just for them called Mystery Box, where they will learn about the text for the day with the help of a special surprise found inside the box.

If you are interested in Sunday school

There are classes for all ages. All classes are online only at this time and can be participated in via Zoom. Adult Bible Study, currently taught by our pastor Desi Sharp Brumit meets from 9:00-10:00 Sunday morning, with a link in the weekly email that you can sign up for on the home page. Our Youth Director Kao Laizure will be happy to connect youth ages 6th grade + to the Altared Life Youth Group, and our Children's Director Sherry McCurley will be glad to connect with school-aged children up to 5th grade.

Introducing yourself

You will be welcomed during the service, but you will not be singled out.  We do not ask our visitors to stand up, raise their hand, or anything else, which would cause you to be identified as a visitor.  We hope you will fill out the attendance form with your contact information so we can follow-up on your visit by mail or email.

Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. We are utilizing the best practices available for cleanliness/sanitation during the pandemic. United Methodists practice “open-table” communion. You do not need to be a member of our church to participate. Anyone who desires to grow closer to Christ and one another may receive the sacrament. If you are worshiping online and would like to receive communion please contact the church office via email or by calling (405) 321-0975 and a member of our communion team will be happy to assist you.
